About us
Getting dressed should be easy. But for many of us, figuring out what to wear is a daily challenge. Trends and influencers may offer inspiration, but developing a unique style that feels truly authentic often requires something deeper. At Style Science for Black Girls, we believe that style is a form of self-expression, deeply connected to who we are. The right outfit can empower us to feel confident and ready to tackle life’s challenges, allowing us to stand taller and perform at our best.
I’ve loved fashion for as long as I can remember. As a child, I would “borrow” my mom’s earrings and shoes, endlessly fascinated with playing dress-up. My love for fashion grew as I binge-watched Project Runway and sketched designs in my notebooks after school. I’ve always been the go-to for friends and family—whether it was advising my sister or giving style tips to friends. That love for helping others express themselves through clothing continued to grow through my 8+ years working in fashion and beauty retail, where I helped countless women feel confident and beautiful in what they wore. Although my path led me to pursue International Studies and a career in tech, I never lost my passion for style. Dressing confidently became my secret weapon for navigating challenging meetings and presentations. I learned firsthand that how we present ourselves can impact how we show up in the world.
Style Science for Black Girls was born out of my desire to share the style tools I’ve discovered, with a focus on representation. The journey to developing a personal style is deeply individual, but for Black women, it can be difficult to find resources and examples that resonate. Our platform is built on the principles of body-typing systems like David Kibbe’s Image ID and John Kitchener’s Essences, alongside color analysis, all tailored for Black women. We guide you through the world of personal style with an inclusive and affirming approach, helping you build a wardrobe that feels true to who you are.
Our community is growing quickly, with thousands of followers across TikTok, YouTube, and Pinterest. Style Science for Black Girls is here to help you discover your unique style framework, connect with like-minded women, and build the confidence to embrace your individuality, one outfit at a time.
With love,
